This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Calistoga Education Foundation. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the quality of education at our Calistoga schools. We obtain this goal by raising money which then goes to fund grants written by the teachers at our Calistoga schools. These grants benefit our children by providing extra benefits towards their education.
Our endowment fund has done very well, all things considered in this economy. Our investments took a hit last fall; but we are slowly getting back to where we were last spring. Our endowment fund is now at $994,000; so we are very close to getting back to our $l million mark.
The CEF Board is in the process of discussing their plans for our Spring Fundraiser. We do not have an Auction Chair. This is a position on the CEF Board and is in charge of directing our spring fundraiser. This person would be the head of our fundraising committee. This position does have a stipend of $5,000. We will need many volunteers to help us put on this event and/or donate auction items. Please call me at my home number, 942-9101, if you are interested in the Auction Chair position or if you are interested in helping on the committee or with your donation items..
I would like to give a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Mr. Vince Arroyo of Vince Arroyo Winery and also to Mr. Sam Turner of T & M Agricultural Services for their many years of dedication and support of the CEF. The CEF has greatly benefited financially from their hard work. Please read my article on Crayon Rouge.
Thanks,
Connie Johnson, CEF President
